I am Carles Ortolà i Boscà, and currently I am the Head of Foresight and Trend Analysis at the Catalan Cybersecurity Agency. I am also an associate professor of Intelligence and Strategic Action at the University of Barcelona, and a Strategic Thinking trainer at the Catalan Institute of Public Security.
Research
I am interested in the scientific analysis of the concept of strategy, Strategic Theory and Decision Theory to assess threats and design strategies that mitigate them.
Strategy Theory
Research on the concept of strategy and development of theoretical frameworks to understand what it is, how it works and its fundamental parts.
Strategic Thinking
Research on methodologies for strategic analysis of phenomena, definition of strategic environments and design of strategic actions.
Threat Analysis and Assessment
Research on the concept of threat and its constituent entities, development of theoretical frameworks and methodologies to analyze public security phenomena.

DIALEKT
A platform for building and analyzing argument maps collaboratively. Teams can create visual representations of arguments, attach evidence, and evaluate claims using subjective logic.
AGORA
A systems thinking and dynamics platform for creating and simulating models. Users can build system models using different approaches and run simulations.
STRATEGOS
A web application for teaching strategic thinking and scenario planning using the Method of Divergent Scenarios. Students work through a structured process.
MENACE
An educational platform for intelligence analysis training. Student teams participate in 3-hour exercises where they analyze threats using standard methodologies.
